Unseaen Signs, Cyprus
Unseaen signs refers to the new way of seeing and understanding the written language in art. As the words, are complicated creatures, saying a lot, explaining enough, means a lot but means nothing when they begin to lose their references. And when they begin to lose their references they can find a new meaning they can become and something else.
Unseaen; A word that does not exist. Three words have been assembled together to make a new word and a new being. The artist is stating that; these are the words and signs that you cannot see and barely can be seen, while she is giving this title as an example of what it is happening around us, with the misunderstanding with the language.
Throughout this Solo Exhibition and Life Performance Rafaella decides to present how she transforms (her own language / alphabet) into an active writing, painting. A variety of ‘Unseaen signs’ drawings and paintings will be exhibited in an alternative space. Poetry and a live performance will be part of the event. On that day the artist chose to be present and to work directly in front of the audience to show of how her hand gesture speaks louder and becomes an act of a live performance inside the sea using the Unseaen Steel Signs.
